Carbon engineering since 2008

Carbon, engineered
and proven.

We design, test and make carbon bicycle components. Our frames won design awards and our filament wound rims won a Eurobike Award. Today we build Venn rims and wheels, and we help other brands build theirs.

What we do

Evidence, not stories

We test, we research, then we do it again. Everything below can be checked.

Eurobike Award 2015
Filament wound carbon rims
For winding continuous fibre around the rim profile instead of laying up cut patches. The same Venn Rev 35 rims also won a Taipei Cycle d&i award and a Golden Pin Design Award in 2015, and the first Flanders Bike Valley Start-up Innovation Award in 2017.
iF Design ยท d&i award 2012
Helios Aero frame
Combined iF Design and Taipei Cycle d&i award, bicycle category. Designed with Lewis Mathiske.
National Entrepreneurship Award 2010
Taiwan business awards
One of ten national entrepreneurship awards, chosen from 80 applicants, followed in 2011 by the Taiwan Excellent Enterprise Quality Award.
Patents
Filament wound rims, concave down tube
Taiwan patents TW I607894 (2017) and TW I634964 (2018) for Victor Major's method of making carbon rims by filament winding, the first of its kind. Three international patents on the Syn down tube that keeps a bike aerodynamic with a bottle fitted (Taiwan application 104104486).
Research partners
NCHC, NCKU, Oxeon, Acer
CFD and genetic algorithm optimisation on the NCHC GPU supercomputer (2012); TeXtreme spread tow carbon research with Oxeon; Acer high performance servers; long standing work with National Cheng Kung University.
Testing
EN standards, EFBe and CHC
Safety products tested to EN standards; frame stiffness validated by independent test centres.

From titanium and our first carbon frames to the patented Syn. Raced from Boston criteriums to the first Women's Tour of Britain, a Belgian Continental team and the Race Across America.

Why Velocite exists

Started by a rider who wanted the truth about carbon.

Victor Major, founder, holding a Helios Aero in the Velocite shop

Velocite was started in 2008 for one reason: to make the best product for the purpose, and to prove it. We do not employ industrial designers. Form follows function, and every design choice is backed by simulation, testing and riding.

That also means we can afford what larger brands cannot: better fibre and more of it where it matters, because we are not carrying tens of thousands of frames in inventory.
